At 6:46 am on Wednesday, September 11th, 2013, the local “Bugles Across America” team will play the first round of Taps honoring civilians, veterans and first responders involved in the series of coordinated terrorist attacks upthe United States in New York City and Washington, D.C. on September 11th, 2001.
The public and media are invited to attend the memorial that will be held at the War Memorial the Greenbelt on Memorial Drive (west of the County Courthouse). A bell will be rung at the exact time of each of the crashes, followed by the American LegVeterans Memorial 21-gun salute using an M1 Garand WWII rifle, and concluding with Taps an Amazing Grace performed by the local Bugles Across America team.
The exact timeline (MST) of the crashes is as follows:
At 6:46 am, American Airlines Flight 11 crashes into the North Tower of the New York
World Trade Center.
At 7:03 am, United Airlines Flight 175 crashes into the South Tower of the New York World
At 7:13 am, American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, just
outside the borders of Washington, D.C.
At 8:10 am, United Airlines Flight 93 crashes in a field near Shanksville, PA after the
passenger made a heroic attempt to regain control of the aircraft from the hijackers.
A fifth rendering will take place in memory of all those who have died in far-away places
defending our nation.
