At 6:46 am on Wednes­day, Sep­tem­ber 11th, 2013, the local “Bugles Across Amer­ica” team will play the first round of Taps hon­or­ing civil­ians, vet­er­ans and first respon­ders involved in the series of coor­di­nated ter­ror­ist attacks upthe United States in New York City and Wash­ing­ton, D.C. on Sep­tem­ber 11th, 2001.

The pub­lic and media are invited to attend the memo­r­ial that will be held at the War Memo­r­ial the Green­belt on Memo­r­ial Drive (west of the County Cour­t­house). A bell will be rung at the exact time of each of the crashes, fol­lowed by the Amer­i­can LegVet­er­ans Memo­r­ial 21-gun salute using an M1 Garand WWII rifle, and con­clud­ing with Taps an Amaz­ing Grace per­formed by the local Bugles Across Amer­ica team.

The exact time­line (MST) of the crashes is as fol­lows:
  At 6:46 am, Amer­i­can Air­lines Flight 11 crashes into the North Tower of the New York
World Trade Cen­ter.
  At 7:03 am, United Air­lines Flight 175 crashes into the South Tower of the New York World
Trade Cen­ter.
  At 7:13 am, Amer­i­can Air­lines Flight 77 crashes into the Pen­ta­gon in Arling­ton, VA, just
out­side the bor­ders of Wash­ing­ton, D.C.
  At 8:10 am, United Air­lines Flight 93 crashes in a field near Shanksville, PA after the
pas­sen­ger made a heroic attempt to regain con­trol of the air­craft from the hijack­ers.
  A fifth ren­der­ing will take place in mem­ory of all those who have died in far-away places
defend­ing our nation.
