The home­own­ers quickly vacated the room and allowed the bear to devour the tasty treats. “I was lit­er­ally in the room, and I heard this crack­ing,” home­owner Glenn Mer­rill told the Juneau Empire. “And the next thing you know, there’s this bear that, I mean, lit­er­ally, fell right from (the sky­light). It was like one meter away from me.” Merrill’s house is on a moun­tain­side that over­looks down­town Juneau.“There prob­a­bly isn’t a neigh­bor­hood or place where we have homes where the poten­tial isn’t there for you to run into a bear or observe a bear,” Ryan Scott of the Alaska Depart­ment of Fish and Game told the CBC. “There is really no place where the poten­tial isn’t there.

A 53-year-old New Orleans woman was memo­ri­al­ized with a “last party” at her funeral this week, com­plete with beer, men­thol cig­a­rettes and a disco ball. Miriam Marie “Mae-Mae” Bur­bank passed away on June 1. Burbank’s two daugh­ters said Bur­bank was “full of life” and they wanted her funeral to reflect her life. The sis­ters told the funeral home direc­tors at Char­bon­net Funeral Home in New Orleans about their mother and plan­ners came up with a way to honor Bur­bank. At the funeral, Bur­bank was sit­ting at a table in a liv­ing room set­ting hold­ing a men­thol cig­a­rette and a glass of beer. A cross­word puz­zle and Saints hel­mets were also fea­tured on the table.

A Michi­gan man is fac­ing a mul­ti­tude of charges after allegedly lead­ing police on a low-speed chase while he was drunk­enly dri­ving his trac­tor. “A local gas sta­tion reported he bought a beer and left con­sum­ing it and got on the trac­tor and drove away,” Cheboy­gan Police responded to a report of an intox­i­cated, shirt­less man dri­ving a trac­tor around town and found Joshua Viau. They attempted to pull him over, but Viau didn’t stop and then allegedly tried to hit the patrol car with his tractor.Viau then sped away, pulled a num­ber of U-turns and attempted to hit the patrol car again. The sus­pect even­tu­ally hit the police car in its right front fender before flip­ping his trac­tor and tip­ping over in the street. The 35-year-old then attempted to flee from offi­cers before fight­ing with police and being tasered.Viau was charged with two counts of assault with a dan­ger­ous weapon, one count of resist­ing and obstruct­ing police offi­cers, one count of flee­ing and elud­ing police, and one count of oper­at­ing while intox­i­cated. “Just stand­ing up dri­ving down the mid­dle of state in the cen­ter lane. I never saw a guy drive a trac­tor around like that before! Looked like he was hav­ing a good time up and down the road,” said wit­ness Jerry Mulka.
